Ripped Sweater

"I love Monday mornings!" said no one ever. And if you do love Monday mornings, then good for you because you might be the only one. ;)

I don't like to throw on a long sleeve t-shirt with jeans and call it a day. So, in my effort of trying to look put together on a Monday, I go to my chunky, over-sized sweater with leggings and combat boots. Yes, I am basic as can be, but hey, it's Monday morning! What did you expect?

Excuse the horrible flash picture - I had work and couldn't get a picture until tonight. Plus, my dad thinks he knows all about cameras, but he doesn't.

"Did you know your sweater is ripped?" If only you knew how many times I got that today. That's one of the reason why I love this sweater. The ripped corner gives it a more edgy feel.

I chose to wear a scarf because I felt as if my statement necklaces just didn't go well with this outfit. Plus, this sweater had a big boat neckline and it was freezing out.

Because I just couldn't get any more edgy, I had to wear my combat boots. (And because it's the only black pair of boots I own....)

Here is a list of where everything is from:
Sweater: Thrifted $1.99 - originally from Heartloom
Leggings: Aerie $9.99 (back when they had the workout clothing line)
Scarf: Flea Market $5.00
Shoes: Target $6.48 (similar ones here)

Preppy girl tries to go grunge every now and then :) I hope y'all have a fantabulous day/night!

Christmas Party - Under $20

Hey, y'all :) I hope your day is going/was fantabulous!

For my first blog post, I thought I'd share what I wore to my work's Christmas party! The best thing is it was appropriate for church in the morning as well! I hate going through multiple outfits during the day for different events. So, I always try to find an outfit I can wear for everything or one that I just have to switch up a few pieces. I love this outfit because it gives off the winter-y feel without being decked out in all green and red (not that that wouldn't be fun, buttttt...)

Disclaimer: I am not way a model therefore these pictures will be slightly awkward posing. Enjoy! :)

My baby hairs are sticking straight up. I guess you can call me Alfalfa ;)

For some odd reason, I prefer wearing skirts over dresses during the winter time. I love this particular one because it is a gorgeous cranberry red color, which is absolutely perfect for this time of year. The stripe shirt just adds the extra umph to the outfit with all the different colors. Then to mute the outfit a little, I decided to wear my nude kitten heels.

For jewelry, I went with the classic pearls and monogram. A statement necklace didn't go with the boldness of the shirt therefore I resorted to my simple monogram necklace.

(Yes, I know, I need to get a manicure. Don't worry Manicure Monday is coming soon.)
An outfit is never complete without painted nails. At least, I feel this way. I went with a black nail polish with bits of glitter in it, but it isn't the chunky, hard-to-get-off glitter. Black nail polish is just a little too harsh for me so this gave me the "edgy" vibe without it being too much (for me).

Here is the list of where everything is from:
Shirt: Thrifted $1.99 - originally from J. Crew
Skirt: Thrifted $7.99 - originally from Ann Taylor (similar one)
Shoes: Rugged Wearhouse $3.00
Earrings: Target $4.99 (I used my Cartwheel app for additional 20% off)
Necklace: Rue 21 $2.00

I think a complete outfit for under $20 is a complete steal, wouldn't you say so yourself? ;)
